Brian Smith is a chartered accountant and is an expert on the regulation of UK Collective Investment Schemes and investment management. Until the beginning of 1997, when he joined this firm, he was the Investment Compliance Officer for a major UK Life Insurance Company and Unit Trust Group which manages assets of over £8 billion. He has been involved with the UK unit trust industry for many years, not only serving as the Chairman of AUTIF’s Regulation Committee, but also on its Executive Committee.

Jonathan Hourigan read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at University College, Oxford. He has been a senior investment manager at Rothschilds, John Govett and Thomas Cook. Professionally, his principal focus has been fixed income investment management but he has also managed equity portfolios and teams of fund managers. Jonathan has long-term high-level experience in money and business management as well as marketing and client servicing . Recently, he has offered short- and long-term asset and liability consulting and advisory services to a number of prominent City firms.

Martin Wooller read economics at the University of Kent at Canterbury. His career has encompassed policy advice in Central Banking, economic forecasting in international banking as well as director level investment management at Rothschilds, Scimitar, Fidelity and Thomas Cook, focussing primarily on multi-currency fixed income. He has also managed balanced equity portfolios as well as teams of portfolio managers operating in different regulatory and tax environments. In common with Jonathan Hourigan, Martin has extensive business management experience and in depth background in marketing and client servicing. He has also been responsible for establishing a number of investment management companies as 'greenfield' start-ups. For the last four years, Martin Wooller has run his own consultancy service. Projects completed successfully have included: Due diligence on potential acquisitions; Establishment of UK Regulated Investment Management Companies; Manager Analysis for pension funds.
